Fire Station #5 replaces an aging facility and is designed to fit within a 0.5-acre site alongside a new Station #11. The 2-story structure features deeper bays and secure parking, addressing the limitations of the existing station. A unique design cantilevers part of the second floor to provide covered parking while preserving existing old-growth trees. The building's wrap-around-the-bay design minimizes height and integrates into the historic neighborhood. The open living area fosters community interaction, while the sleeping areas are designed for comfort and quiet. A slide offers quick access from the dorms to the Apparatus Bay. Additionally, the facility serves as a training site for rappelling, equipped with a dedicated rappelling tower.
